A Pennsylvania waitress has been left stunned after a customer refused to wear a face covering inside her restaurant and wrote the word ‘mask’ in the tip section of his bill.
The incident occurred at John Henry’s Pub in Ardmore on Sunday evening and server Jamie Ledwith shared a photo of the receipt on social media, where it quickly went viral.
Pennsylvania restaurants can currently operate at a 50 percent capacity, with Governor Tom Wolf mandating that customers must wear face coverings while not seated at their tables. Experts say the masks can greatly reduced the spread of COVID-19.

Lediwth said she was simply following the Governor’s mandate when she asked the male patron to cover his nose and mouth while not seated at his table
Lediwth says she politely reminded the male patron of those rules when she spotted him moving around her establishment with his nose and mouth exposed.
‘He kind of brushed it off. He said it wasn’t a big deal that he didn’t have a mask on. And I told him that it wasn’t my rule, it was just the rule,’ Ledwith told Pennsylvania magazine.
A short time later, the maskless patron requested the bill for his meal, which came to $23.50.
Ledwith swiped the man’s American Express card before handing him a merchant receipt, which he was required to sign.
The receipt featured a space for the patron to leave a tip – with Ledwith hopeful she would secure a 20 percent gratuity for her service.
However, she was left shocked when she returned to the man’s empty table to find the bill with he word ‘mask’ written in the space where the tip amount was supposed to go.

‘I couldn’t even tell you how much I don’t care about the money,’ Ledwith told NBC 10 on Thursday
‘Right now, it’s hard for us. I don’t want to tell you what to do. I really don’t want to tell any other adult what to do. But you know, I do have to abide by the rules.’
After sharing the photo to Facebook, Ledwith was inundated with messages of support. Regular patrons have visited the restaurant leaving cards with cash in them. Other have pledged to tip Ledwith via Venmo.
‘It’s been overwhelming,’ she told Philadelphia.
‘You try to be nice, but sometimes people are rude and disrespectful anyway. I’m just glad that 99 percent of them are awesome.’
