In the video, the woman who claims to work at the chain pours mango and passion fruit juice halfway up an empty plastic cup.

She then pours the juice into the blender and fills the cup to the top with ice.

The barista then adds ice into the blender and mixes the two together, before pouring it back into the cup and putting on a lid and straw.

The video quickly racked up more than 167,000 views, with people shocked at the limited amount of ingredients and effort that goes into producing the drink.

The drink, which is part of the chain’s summer menu, varies in price across the UK.

In less expensive areas diners can grab it for as little as £2.95, but it costs up to £4 in London and can be even more pricey at service stations.

One user slammed the video writing: ‘We pay £4 for juice and ice, I prefer Starbucks,’ adding that she thought it was made with fresh fruit.

‘I could make four servings of these for 60p girl, bye!’ commented another TikTok user.

‘Disappointed but not surprised,’ said another.

‘Go to Aldi, get mango and passion fruit juice for 69p and a bag of ice for 89p and blend it, then you have the same thing for under £2,’ one suggested.

Some defended the drink, with one admitting: ‘It tastes so good though,’ while another wrote: ‘This is my favourite!’.

Other baristas also commented on the drink, agreeing it is expensive for what it is.

‘I work at Costa and I think it’s stupidly priced, but it’s called Costa for a reason, cause it will costya a lot’ joked one.

‘Nah it’s £1 for the drink and £3 for the cup,’ added another.

‘£4?! I’d rather pay £5 for 2x 1.5ltr of Tropicana!’ a third wrote.

‘I’m literally drinking my Iceland mango and passion fruit smoothie for £1.25 thinking it tastes so familiar and I realise it’s THIS,’ said another.
