Could Valencia lose another star name? Crisis-hit LaLiga club face another first-team exit as Atletico Madrid are ‘told to meet release clause for Geoffrey Kondogbia’ as they seek emergency replacement for Arsenal’s new £45m star Thomas Partey
- Valencia lost four first-team stars in a chaotic transfer window this summer
- Javi Gracia held an emergency meeting after no new players were brought in
- They could lose a fifth with Atletico Madrid interested in Geoffrey Kondogbia
- Atleti have 30 days to find an emergency replacement for Thomas Partey
LaLiga’s crisis club Valencia face losing another first-team star after reportedly being approached by Atletico Madrid for their midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.
Diego Simeone is seeking a replacement for Thomas Partey, after he sealed a £45m deadline day move to Arsenal this week.
Atletico have 30 days to find an emergency replacement for Partey, and Spanish newspaper Marca claim that Kondogbia has been identified.

The report adds that Valencia have told Atleti to pay the release clause, but the price has not been revealed.
If Atleti meet the clause and get their man, Valencia would not be able to sign their own replacement.
Last season Barcelona made use of the emergency rule to bring in Martin Braithwaite from Leganes, who in turn were unable to bring in their own reinforcements.
Losing Kondogbia, who last year made 34 appearances for the Mestalla club, would be a fresh blow for manager Javi Gracia after a chaotic summer.

Gracia remains in charge despite a two-hour long meeting with club president Anil Murthy on Wednesday after a summer that saw four first-team players leave and no new signings arrive.
Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin went down the road to Villarreal, Rodrigo Moreno went to Leeds and Ferran Torres was sold to Manchester City.
Gracia, who was hired in the summer as owner Peter Lim’s seventh coach since buying the club in 2015, had been promised new recruits to replace the lost talent but on deadline day nobody new arrived at Mestalla.
